Per Capita Media
Suchir Salhan is the Founder and Director of Cambridge University's newest publication, Per Capita and the Founder & President of Gonville & Caius College's Media & Journalism Society.
Co-founded by Suchir Salhan, Per Capita Media is a progressive, independent publication open for all university, sixth-form and secondary school students across the UK, covering News, Features & Culture. Since its establishment in August 2023, PCM has received interest from national publications nationwide, including The Times and The Sunday Times. It is a Registered Club & Society of the University of Cambridge.
The publication was founded under two guiding principles. First, PCM aims to encourage discussion and dialogue on under-discussed issues and progressive ideas, engaging students, academics and young people to provide a more complete perspective on ideas and events than would standardly fall under the remit of a student paper. This does not only mean highlighting a diversity of political perspectives, but also highlighting student activism and the work of student creatives. We have a deliberately wide remit, in particular covering Science & Technology. Second, acting in response to the contemporary student media landscape in the UK which in many ways feeds into the problems of the “traditional” media, we hope to democratise journalism through
